I have a pre-seasoned corned beef brisket simmering. I had intended to add veggies and cabbage and serve as a soup. HOWEVER, I noticed when adding the spice pack that the bay leaves had been crushed into bits the size of a pencil eraser head or smaller. I thought I read that these were supposed to puncture the lining of the intestines if ingested and so they must be removed. They would be impossible to sift out at this point. Are the bits small enough to digest? I don't want to serve it to my family if they aren't.
